THE GIANT GARDEN
Espergærde, Denmark - 2016
Espergærde City Park
Espergærde City is a popular residential town with many families and kids. The playground is inspired by the idea of a garden grown to giant size due to too much fertilizer. So everything - from the watering can, to the flowers and the grasshopper - is now huge, making the kids turn into little figures themselves.
The construction of the grasshopper is 3 meters high, 8 meters long and 4 meters wide. He is aimed at children in the age group 4-12 years, and offers numerous climbing opportunities both inside and outside. Besides the grasshopper, the playground also consists of a watering can, different kinds of flowers, grass and a hose. All of which is transformed into giant sizes.
The wings of the grasshopper is made of nets, which make it easy for the kids to climb in. They can also climb on the ladder and enter the inside of the grasshopper or take the trip down the grasshopper’s feelers, which serves as two tall fireman poles.
The trunks shaped like grass and the flowers can be climbed with ropes attached to eachother.
CRAWL AROUND THE GARDEN LIKE A TINY ANT
The big flowers are made for climbing and hiding or just as a place to take a small break from moving around.
The watering can has three fireman poles for the kids to slide down. The steel tubes looks like water pouring out of the can.
