A FANTASTIC ADVENTURE IMAGINED BY LOCAL CHILDREN
The Duck-fish is a fascinating, unique creature - a mutation of a duck and a fish - dreamt up by the lively imaginations of local children!
The playground is part of a larger redevelopment project in the area. The "Cultural Quarter" project will transform the area surrounding the train station and the lake and provide a cohesive recreational area for all ages.
Local students at the art program "Billedskolen" were involved in the creative development process with the aim of giving them a sense of ownership of the playground and park area.
The playground is composed of the fantasy creature, a huge mushroom canopy for shade, and a mountain-shaped hideaway.
Clamber up the leaves to get to the top of the mountain hideaway.
The duck-fish - though peculiar - is a friendly fellow!
The colourful mushroom provides shade on a sunny day.
A MATTER OF GREAT IMAGINATION
The design concept for the playground was developed in collaboration with local children at an after-school art program.
In total, 46 children were involved in the idea generation process and created visual studies based upon the themes of:
1. The wildlife around the lake at site (Selsmosen).
2. Alternative forms of outdoor furniture.
3. Creatures and magical beings inspired by old folk tales.
At MONSTRUM, the resulting studies formed the foundation for our creative process and informed decisions in terms of subject matter and colour and pattern at the playground.
DIVE INTO A WORLD OF IMAGINATION
The duck-fish is surrounded by fun climbing courses to explore.
Discover the mountain.
Give the drum a try and fill the hideaway with music!
Climb in to discover the colourful insides - a feast for the senses!
From on top of the hideaway, you can peek down to your friends.
The eggs are fun to climb and sit in.
