Lilidorei, a popular attraction in Northern England, is home to a one-of-a-kind MONSTRUM playground that attracts visitors from around the world. Welcoming over 200,000 visitors annually, the attraction has become a major draw for the region.

Touted as the world’s largest play structure of its kind, the playground comprises an elaborate network of bridges and gangways connecting the 10 towers of the grand castle. With huge tube slides and a 24-metre-high central tower, Lilidorei challenges the bravest adventurers while offering accessible play across multiple levels and a wide variety of features. The richly detailed design encourages creativity and exploration and creates an immersive world for children to discover.

A bespoke, themed playground like this puts attractions on the map for families, increasing footfall and dwell time at destinations. 

When the iconic LEGO House opened in 2017, the mission was to create a place where LEGO fans of all ages could discover much more about where LEGO play can take you.

We were commissioned to design nine themed playgrounds for the interlinked roof terraces on top of the series of “LEGO bricks” comprising the building. The narrative was “The Journey to LEGO House”, with each playground depicting a different way of travelling to LEGO House — be it by hot-air balloon or space rocket.

The resulting playgrounds have become synonymous with the popular attraction and integrate seamlessly with the aesthetic universe.

Where inside LEGO House kids get to create the scenes, here on the roof terraces they are able to enter the scenes and become the characters in the stories — a truly immersive experience of the play value of LEGO, bringing the attraction to the next level.
