AN ICONIC GATHERING PLACE
Postbyen, on the site of the former Danish postal service headquarters, is a new urban district for life, work, and play in Copenhagen.
We designed a custom thematic playground for Postbyen, which will play a role in shaping the area’s identity.
Going beyond traditional swings and climbing frames, the playground is an integrated architectural and experiential element that invites children to explore a fun world of parcels and letters!
EXPERIENCE ICONS OF THE PAST
In a digital-first age and with a sharp decline in the number of physical letters sent, the Danish postal system has recently moved to only deliver parcels. This means that things like the iconic red postboxes and stamps are becoming a thing of the past.
Features like this will practically become historic elements that children can experience and learn about here through play.
OUR SOCIAL IMPACT
"I've never seen anything like it."
Visiting the refugee settlement Rhino Camp - roughly the size of the Danish island Langeland, with more than half its population being children - made a profound impact on our CEO, Ole.
"I'm proud that we, as a company, can contribute to giving children safety, food, schooling, and the opportunity to play."
- Ole Barslund Nielsen, MONSTRUM CEO
As part of our commitment to making a social impact, we have supported the national fundraiser Danmarks Indsamling for several years. Through this work, Ole, had the opportunity to travel to Uganda, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of our contributions—and, not least, the great need that still exists.
If you’re based in Denmark, you can support this year’s national fundraiser, taking place on January 31st. Find out more here.
